dc.description.abstract This report presents data analysis on the effects and consequences of violent crime among American Indians. From 1976 to 2001, an estimated 3,738 American Indians were murdered. Data also shows that the rate of violent victimization, estimated from responses by American Indians, is well above that of other U.S. racial or ethnic subgroups and is more than twice as high as the national average.
