In 2003, the Colombian Government and Paramilitary forces began a peace process to end the decades old conflict, which left thousands of people, displaced and victims of violence. The peace talks and associated legal framework have been contested by many sectors of society. The elements of this peace process, its legal framework, and its contestation allow for a new understanding of transitional justice.
