Critical analysis of the United Nations Declaration of Basic Principles on the Use of Restorative Justiceprograms in criminal matters

Abstract

This literature review will seek to provide a theoretical basis from which to understandthe United Nations preliminary draft elements of a declaration of basic principles on theuse of restorative justice programmes in criminal matters. In order to provide a contextfrom within which to understand the draft elements, a number of issues will be addressed.
