The reasons for the United States government’s opposition to the International Criminal Court (ICC) are presented in this book as well as counterarguments in supportof U.S. participation, all in an accessible way to the layperson. The book was publishedin the context of legislation that would have outlawed American participation in theICC, the American Serviceman Protection Act of 2000, which ultimately, narrowly, didnot pass. Legal, political, and military experts examine the relationship of theInternational Criminal Court to U.S. national security interests.
