dc.description.abstract Legal aid is a heterogeneous set of individuals and organizations providing free legal servicesto low-income communities that have no other recourse to the civil justice system. Theseorganizations include local and statewide programs – funded through a variety of public andprivate sources – that provide direct legal services in a broad range of civil matters, includinghousing, employment, community economic development, access to health care andeducation, safety in the home, child support, consumer protection and more.
