dc.description.abstract This report on Access to Information in Canada is one part of a 34-month, hemispheric-wide analysis of how well national governments in the Americas are complying with the commitments to strengthen democracy made at the 2001 Summit of the Americas in Quebec City.Based on the opinion of experts in the field and secondary research, this report addresses the main issues under debate in Canada regarding freedom of expression by looking at:a) Existing legal framework;b) Effective Access to information on various topics; andc) The impact of education and of new technologies on the dissemination and management of information.
