Abstract
Artificial Intelligence in the Judiciary: Reflections and Guidelines for the Americas examines the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in judicial systems across the Americas and proposes a strategic framework for its responsible adoption. The report explores AI applications in judicial administration, case management, legal research, adjudicative support, access to justice, and data protection, while emphasizing the distinction between administrative uses and those directly affecting judicial decision-making. Drawing upon comparative experiences, international standards, and emerging regulatory frameworks, the publication identifies the principal opportunities and challenges associated with AI, highlighting the need to balance innovation, operational efficiency, judicial independence, due process, transparency, and the protection of fundamental rights.
